Where Garstedt is — and which Garstedt we mean
Our Garstedt is the small municipality in the collective municipality of Salzhausen, in the district of Harburg (Lower Saxony, postcode 21441) — around 1,400 residents, first documented in 1252, situated in the Hohe Geest on the edge of the Lüneburg Heath, with the river Luhe just east of the village. It is explicitly not the Garstedt district of Norderstedt north of Hamburg (the one with the U1 subway station) — that's a completely different place. If you book a furnished apartment 'in Garstedt' with us, you're staying in a quiet, village setting between Salzhausen (6 km), Winsen an der Luhe (around 10 km) and the Lüneburg district-town region (around 20 km).
Getting there: the A7 on your doorstep, the train nearby
Garstedt has a convenient location on the north–south corridor: the A7 between the Garlstorf and Egestorf interchanges is just a few minutes away by car — handy for anyone travelling between Hamburg and Hannover by their own vehicle. The village no longer has its own passenger train station with regular service (passenger service on the Winsen–Hützel line was discontinued in 1970). If you're travelling by train, you'd depart from Winsen (Luhe), about 10 km away, on the Hamburg–Hannover line, or from Buchholz in der Nordheide on the Metronom regional trains (RE4/RB41) toward Hamburg Central Station. We recommend having a car on site for maximum flexibility — especially for contractors working at changing locations across the region.

The Hanseatic town of Lüneburg, with its brick Gothic architecture, the Salt Museum and Leuphana University, is about 20 km away — a rewarding day trip. Is there a train station in Garstedt?
